Dr. Edike, Uche Emmanuel
Profile
Dr Uche Emmanuel Edike is a professional builder and an academic with excellent teaching pedagogy, research expertise and industry experience. Dr Edike currently serves as a Senior Lecturer and the Acting Head of the Department of Building at the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Nigeria. He is a member of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences Research Committee. Dr Edike holds a registration with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), the professional body that regulates building construction practice and management in Nigeria. He obtained a B.Sc. in Building from the University of Uyo and an MSc and PhD in Building, specializing in Construction Materials and Technology, from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Dr Edike has passionately taught Construction and Built Environment courses, including Construction Technology, Building and Engineering Material Sciences, Building Energy Management Systems, Building Services Engineering, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and Construction Planning and Control. He has also trained several professionals in the Life Cycle Assessment of buildings incorporating novel construction materials vis a vis conventional construction materials. Dr Edike has successfully supervised several undergraduate research projects and also published in high-impact journals. At Bells University of Technology where he worked previously, he had won the Vice-Chancellor's Award of Excellence in publishing in reputable journals in 2022 and 2023. He was a member of the Campus Development Committee and the Project Monitoring Committee. In several projects, Dr Edike designed and implemented various construction and project management documents such as programme of work, project health and safety plans, construction methodology plans, and project quality control plans. He was the Coordinating Head of the Department of Building Technology between 2017 and 2021. Dr Edike managed the design and construction of different types of buildings, including St Cosmas Catholic Church, Benja and St Thomas Aquinas Chaplaincy, and hostels, among several other buildings.
